We are a collaboration of business leaders, educators, students, parents, and policy makers transforming the public education system so that every student graduates prepared for careers, college, and citizenship.
TransformSC
was launched in 2013 as a collaboration of business leaders, educators, students, parents, and policy makers transforming the public education system so that every student graduates prepared for careers, college, and citizenship. During its initial phase, TransformSC partnered with 73 schools from 29 districts, including 7 districts in their entirety, that implemented innovative practices that reached every student, classroom, and teacher. These inaugural TransformSC schools laid the groundwork for the continuing work of TransformSC.

- Businesses consistently tell us that the characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate (“the Profile”) are what they are looking for in hiring
- Project-based learning teaches and enforces more of the targets on the Profile than traditional instruction
- South Carolina’s traditional assessments leave over 2/3 of the Profile completely unmeasured
- The majority of South Carolina parents believe that teaching students durable or success skills laid out in the Profile is a joint responsibility between them and schools
- Parents, students, and educators are in agreement that while they are optimistic about the future of South Carolina’s students, they all think that the current generation of talent is not fully prepared to enter the workforce

TransformSC supported the development of the “Profile of the South Carolina Graduate,” codified by the SC General Assembly in 2016 and which has become a national model in illustrating industry success skills along with world class content for workers to thrive.
Summary of Recent Research on Education & Workforce
TransformSC has conducted a number of research studies and surveys through the years focused on identifying the durable life and success skills needed by South Carolina’s businesses, measuring our students’ and educators’ confidence level in those skills, and asking how we can better prepare the next generation of workforce for the new technologies and opportunities coming to the Palmetto State.
