President and CEO of South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, Recognized Among Columbia Business Monthly’s “50 Most Influential People” for Second Consecutive Year
For the second consecutive year, Susie Shannon, President and CEO of the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, has been recognized by Columbia Business Monthly as one of its 50 Most Influential People. This annual list honors individuals from throughout the Midlands region who have been identified as leaders in industry, government, and business.
Under Susie’s leadership, the Council has strengthened its network of partners and supporters and seen on-going engagement from the business community. In 2018, the Council released several industry studies including an aerospace economic impact study indicating that the industry has a $24.8 Billion total economic impact on the state; and a distribution and warehousing study showing Dillon, SC as the top location for distribution warehousing operations.
Susie also continues to help spearhead education initiatives with the Council’s signature education program, TransformSC, growing to include 67 schools and 7 entire school districts. As a result of her work in education, Susie was only of only 23 statewide education stakeholders tapped to participate in a field study of public schools in Finland.
An active community member, Susie is a member of the Strategic Partnership Group for the Department of Commerce Coordinating Council for Workforce Development, the EPSCoR State Committee, and the Central Carolina Community Foundation Board of Directors.
