Columbia, SC – SC Council on Competitiveness (SC Competes), a nonpartisan, business-led, nonprofit organization located in Columbia, SC, welcomes Jamie DeMent as the new Director of Technology and Cybersecurity Initiatives and Amy Sartain as the new Director of SC Logistics.

Jamie DeMent joins SC Competes after eight years at the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and Charleston Open Source. During that time, Jamie was recognized for her strengths in community building and business development. In her role as Director of Technology and Cybersecurity Initiatives, Jamie will lead the SC Tech industry cluster to accelerate growth and innovation for the entire state. Jamie is an Honorary Commander with Joint Base Charleston and sits on the Board for Palmetto Goodwill. She also is a 2022 Riley Fellow – Diversity Leaders Initiative Graduate and a 2019 Forty Under 40 Award winner, recognized for her success and community involvement in the Charleston region.  Jamie DeMent replaces prior Director of SC Tech, Kim Christ, who has moved into the role of Director of Education and Workforce Initiatives at SC Competes.

Amy Sartain joins the SC Competes team after five years with Sunland Logistics Solutions, where she worked with clients across many industry sectors to design warehouse solutions. Amy’s career in Supply Chain Logistics includes a diverse range of e-commerce fulfillment, manufacturing, and business development. This year she was honored to be included in the SC Port Ambassador Program. Amy is also passionate about community involvement, serving on the Clemson Women’s Alumni Council and volunteering with the Junior League of Greenville. Amy Sartain steps into the role of Director of SC Logistics previously held by Taylor Jackson, who took on the position of President and CEO at the Maritime Association of South Carolina in August.

“We are excited to welcome Jamie and Amy to our team,” says Susie Shannon, President and CEO of SC Competes. “We were fortunate to work with both of these incredible talents  previously through our Tech and Logistics initiatives, and now lucky enough to have them directly on the SC Competes Team in support of these programs.  Jamie and Amy not only bring an incredible wealth of experience and skills within their respective industry, but also a committed passion to helping create a more competitive economy across South Carolina.”
