SC Aerospace partners gathered last month at Charleston Southern University and Summerville Airport for an afternoon focused on workforce development, industry collaboration, and aviation education.
The event began at Charleston Southern University, where attendees enjoyed a networking luncheon before learning more about the university’s four aerospace degrees: BS in Aeronautics-Professional Pilot, BS in Aeronautics-Air Traffic Management, BS in Aerospace Management, and BT in Aeronautics-Aviation Maintenance Management. Guests toured CSU’s flight simulation lab, explored the hands-on learning opportunities available to students, and connected with industry and education leaders who are helping prepare South Carolina’s future aerospace workforce.
Following the campus visit, attendees traveled to Summerville Airport for a behind-the-scenes look at flight training operations. Seeing the training aircraft up close and learning more about the day-to-day operations of the airport provided valuable insight into the pathways that prepare the next generation of aviation professionals.
We are especially grateful to Charleston Southern University for opening its campus and showcasing the outstanding educational opportunities available to students pursuing careers in aerospace. Programs like those offered at CSU play an important role in strengthening South Carolina’s talent pipeline and supporting the continued growth of the state’s aerospace industry.
